Corral de Monegros increases its production with the Bolegg Gallery

2 min read published on 26 November 2025

In Grañén, Spain, we find this family farm that started in 2015 with around 2,000 free-range hens. From the very beginning, Corral de Monegros has always maintained a firm commitment to sustainable development and the welfare of its hens.

Carlos Conte tells us about his experience

Over time, this project grew until, in 2025, they decided to increase their capacity to the current 45,000 free-range hens, moving from a traditional single-level nesting system to a two-tier aviary system.

To equip their two poultry houses, they relied on Vencomatic Ibérica and the Bolegg Gallery aviary housing system, achieving capacities of 30,000 hens for the first house and 15,000 for the second.

‘The experience with Vencomatic has been quite good. In terms of deadlines and materials, they were correct and as agreed, and they even finished a month sooner.’

They decided on the Bolegg Gallery mainly because of its tiered, tree-shaped design and because all Vencomatic Group products are designed with the natural needs and welfare of hens in mind, without compromising on effectiveness and performance.

"The Bolegg Gallery is a more staggered aviary, which seems more accessible for the hen, and I felt that it would work better."

They had already worked with Vencomatic systems in the past, although in that case they were traditional single-level nests. In 2019, they equipped their farm with the Vencomatic Nest, reaching a maximum capacity of 18,000 birds.

As Carlos tells us, it is a nesting system that has worked well for them over the last six years: "It's a system that worked quite well; the truth is that there have been no major problems or breakdowns in six years."

So, if it was a system that was working well for them, why change it? The answer is quite straightforward: the climatic conditions in the Monegros area, with increasingly frequent summers of extreme heat, accelerated this decision by prioritising the welfare of their hens, since previously, with a more traditional system, they did not have specific cooling.

With the new installation, extreme temperatures no longer have a direct impact on the hens or their production. In addition, by opting for an aviary system such as the Bolegg Gallery, which offers more living space than single-level nesting systems, they have been able to increase their capacity to the 45,000 hens that they currently have.
