The technical service team embraced preventative maintenance by empowering others.

The technical service team embraced preventative maintenance by empowering others to learn all there is to know about installing and maintaining our products on site. And it is starting to pay off in many ways. One of them is that they receive fewer support calls for technical assistance, freeing up time for the team to focus on other aspects of their jobs. And it also cements longer-term relationships with the customers’ maintenance teams.

Gilberto Lago, Technical Service Manager in Brasil explains: "Our focus is training the people at the customer for maintenance of the equipment. This means we bring together several team members that all work for the same customers but are mostly working at different farm locations. We don’t have an official contract in place for these trainings. As a matter of fact, sometimes it is a special service we provide because of a good partnership with the customer. In the training we focus on preventative maintenance at their farm locations. We see the results quickly afterwards with less support calls to our team. We see that with a better technical knowledge about our equipment they are now able to fix the easy problems, and even if they occur, the more challenging ones."

For a training usually a line with nest, Vencobelt, and Prinzen packer is build and technical issues, that are most common to happen, are simulated. The participants are trained to fix the issues, and importantly it is explained how they can prevent these issues from happening in the first place. Cleaning is also an important topic during this preventative maintenance training. Clean equipment contributes to a well-functioning piece of equipment for a long period of time. During the training the participants receive manuals for each topic and at the end of the training all receive a certificate, to recognize their successful participation. We also have some great fun during the training and are happy to share our excitement with our network via social media.
