Breeding with confidence

Canada - The Bertens family runs a successful farm with 40,000 breeders. To accommodate this scale, they chose to build a double-wide barn equipped with two rows of nests and three scratch areas. For the heart of the system, they opted for the Van Gent Nest, a choice that has proven to be both practical and reliable. Father and son proudly share their story and explain why they love their work.

Paul Bertens explains: “We chose the Van Gent Nest and we are very happy with it. The nest is strong and durable, and the birds really like to go inside. We decided on hardwood slats instead of plastic ones, which are very solid and easy to remove or reinstall when needed.”

One of the biggest advantages, according to Paul, is the exceptionally low percentage of floor eggs: “We are really low on floor eggs, less than 0.5%. That saves us a great deal of time and, in the end, also money. The nest is simple yet robust, and that is what we appreciate. It will last for many years.”

In addition to the Van Gent Nest, the farm also uses the PSPC7 packer and the Vencobelt egg transport system. Together, these options ensure that eggs are collected carefully and efficiently.

The Bertens family demonstrates how the right combination of equipment and passion for poultry farming leads to both business success and personal satisfaction. With Vencomatic Group solutions in place, they can focus on what they love most: breeding with confidence.
